Description
Many of our residents lack the skills and confidence to make regular trips by bike.

This role will manage the delivery of an ambitious programme of cycle training, bike maintenance and promotional events to improve the health and wellbeing our residents, as well as working toward our clean air and climate change targets, as well as tackling inequality by widening the reach of the programme.


The council's Active Travel Team plays a key role in engaging and supporting our local communities to become more active and has won several awards for our ground-breaking work.


Islington is an exciting and dynamic part of London experiencing rapid growth and undergoing a significant transformation in its transport environment.

  • A National Standards Cycle Instructor Qualification (NSI or 1st4Sport Level 2) or teaching qualification
  • An understanding of the current legislation that governs Road Safety
  • An ability to work collaboratively on a range of projects
  • An ability to develop and maintain digital systems necessary for the delivery of cost effective, high quality services
  • An understanding of and commitment to good customer service management practices
  • An ability to use a range of approaches to change behaviour
  • An ability to draft funding bids and lobby for investment
  • An ability to provide expert advice to elected members, management and less experienced colleagues
