This opportunity is only open to substantive Officers serving with West Mercia, Warwickshire and Staffordshire Police Forces. At this time, this role is not open to West Midlands Police Officers.

ROCU is a collaboration between the police forces of Staffordshire, West Midlands, West Mercia and Warwickshire to reduce the impact and increase the disruption of serious and organised crime within the region and beyond.

We target those areas of criminality we believe pose the greatest regional threats to the people and businesses of the area we cover.

Working alongside other UK law enforcement agencies and many other partners from both private and public sectors, the ROCU will directly influence the capabilities of these groups, stifling and reducing their criminal activity.

Applications are invited for the role of
MARSOC Intelligence Officer.


Responsibilities:


  • Work jointly with MARSOC partners to identify opportunities for disruption and/or diversion of MARSOC individuals within custody and the community.
  • Maintain close working relationships with MARSOC partners in managing the threat, harm and risk posed by MARSOC individuals.
  • Maintain close working relationships with MARSOC partners to sustain the timely and lawful sharing of information and intelligence.
  • Provide a conduit between MARSOC partners and regional police forces and/or ROCU Tasking processes regarding Criminal Justice opportunities against MARSOC individuals where police investigative activity is required.
  • Work jointly with MARSOC partners to develop remand and detention strategies for MARSOC individuals.
  • Work jointly with MARSOC partners to support the delivery of appropriate prisoner categorisation and location.
  • Undertake criminal justice investigations in line with CPIA against MARSOC individuals as directed by regional tasking processes.
  • Support the delivery and use of covert tactical options deployed by SIOs within custody and the community.
  • To engage with statutory offender management frameworks such as MAPPA.

Essential Characteristics, Qualifications, and Skills:


  • Ability to effectively case manage, work on own initiative and with limited supervision.
  • Willing to travel within the region and nationally as required.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and be able to demonstrate high levels of honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to problem solve and take ownership for delivering outcomes against identified SOC individuals.
  • Ability to work within a multiagency environment.
  • Must have investigative and/or disruptions experience and knowledge of organised crime groups.

Desirable Skills and Experience:


  • Officer to have successfully passed the NIE and completed the Initial Crime Investigators Development Programme (ICIDP), or equivalent.
  • Basic Knowledge of Serious Organised Crime, legislation, structure and practices.
  • Good Knowledge of intelligence handling processes and covert tactics in investigations.
  • Knowledge of criminality within prisons and the regional prison estates.

Hours of Work and Flexibility:

The post holder may be required to work outside normal office hours, including weekends and Bank Holidays.


Line Management and Location:


  • The post will be regionally located within the ROCU.
  • However, there will be significant flexibility around remote working both within police and HMPPS establishments to suit individual and organisational needs.
  • The role holder will report to the ROCU MARSOC Manager.

Vetting:
Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process


Medical:

Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
