Are you looking for a rewarding and diverse role supporting pupils in a mainstream setting with SEMH? Would you like to join a large academy Trust school with various routes into teaching and the option to specialise in a niche education sector?


Tradewind Secondary is partnering with a modern academy in Hoddesdon to hire 3 Teaching Assistants to work within the school's SEN team.

Supporting students with SEMH, you will be required to offer 1:1, general class, and small group support on a full-timebasis (8:30-3:30) from Monday to Friday.


  • TA/LSA for SEMH pupils
  • Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire
  • February half term or immediate start for the remainder of the academic year
  • Leading small groups and supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis focused on pupils with SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health complications)
  • Rewarding and varied post £80 to £95 per day depending on experience
About the Post - TA - SEMH

This is a large, leading school with pupils from a variety of backgrounds.

The school is looking for 3-5 Teaching Assistants to work with their SEN team and support pupils across key stages 3 and 4 with SEMH.

Pupils display a range of needs from avoidanceto delay and respond well to consistent, calm responses.

Many of these pupils will be at the lower end of the attainment and need someone who can display an understanding and caring disposition.

Duties will include working on a 1:1 basis in class settingsand leading small groups. An understanding of SEN, Mental Health or youth work is an advantage, however, not essential.

We have also found sports coaches with school experience are well suited to these roles and the school is happy to offer PE support wherepossible in these circumstances.

Role requirements - SEN TA/LSA

  • SEN experience or exposure is an advantage
  • Graduates with a cando and proactive approach are welcome to apply
  • Commitment to working for the duration of the school year to provide consistency for these key pupils.
