We are seeking to recruit a dynamic Support Worker, to work in the CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Pathway across Huntingdon and Fenland.

Our team consists of clinical psychologists, trainee clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, family therapist, specialist nurses, mental health practitioners and administrators.

We work with young people with a neurodevelopmental diagnosis who are experiencing significant mental health issues, engaging in challenging behaviour or are being assessed/treated for neurodevelopmental conditions.

These posts are advertised as full time but preferences for part-time hours will be considered.


This is a clinical role working with young people with a neurodevelopmental diagnosis (including ASD, ADHD, LD) mental health problems and challenging behaviours.

You will also work closely with their families, carers and professional networks.


The role will include contributing to assessment (semi-structured clinical, neuropsychological, structured diagnostic assessment, observation.) Carrying out school observations and providing intervention (including direct individual, family, group therapeutic work, psycho-education, indirect behavioural work, case management and post diagnostic support.


You will also be required to support the team in terms of ensuring smooth running and organisation of the service, research, evaluation and service development as required.

You will work within a clinic setting as well as community. You will be able to access regular individual supervision, peer supervision, CPD opportunities within and outside of the service.


We are looking for someone who would be enthusiastic about working with young people with neurodevelopmental diagnoses and their families, positive and enabling in their approach, able to work in partnership with young people, their families and professional networks and approaches creatively, and with excellent organisation and communication skills.

To work in partnership with parents/carers to implement interventions, strategies & activities & adapt these to individual children.


To provide practical & emotional support in order to encourage parents/carers to take a pro-active approach to the development of their child's skills.

To work in partnership with parents to promote the importance of positive interactions with their child(ren).

To use knowledge base to deliver advice and support to parents.

To assist in the running of parent workshops.

To work with young people offering psycho education on their diagnosis.

To identify behavioural needs and support parents with implementing behaviour management strategies.

To attend Child in Need, Education and other professional meetings

To support families with attending appointments with other members of the team (e.g. psychiatry).

To contribute to the design of individual intervention plans.

To liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary & multi-agency team.

To be able to work flexibly with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.


Develop good working relationships with other organisations that are able to help individuals' achieve their goals, including colleges, schools, other training provide and voluntary agencies, inpatient units and community services.
