Retail Assistant - Country Store
We are seeking a passionate and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a Retail Assistant in our busy country store.
As a Retail Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and assisting with various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the store.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Greet customers with a friendly and helpful attitude, assist them in finding products, answer their questions about animal care, and provide recommendations based on their needs.
Product Knowledge:
Develop a thorough understanding of the products we offer, including horse & farm feed, pet food, toys, accessories, and grooming supplies, etc.
to effectively assist customers and make informed recommendations.Sales:
Actively promote sales by upselling products, informing customers about promotions and discounts, and encouraging participation in loyalty programs.
Cash Handling:
Operate cash registers accurately, process payments, issue receipts, and handle returns or exchanges efficiently.
Stock Management:
Receive, unpack, and label merchandise shipments, restock shelves, and ensure products are neatly displayed and well-organized to enhance the shopping experience.
Store Maintenance:
Maintain cleanliness and tidiness throughout the store, including sweeping, mopping, dusting shelves, and cleaning display cases.
Assistance:
Assist customers with selecting appropriate pet care products, including food, bedding, and grooming supplies. Provide guidance on basic pet care.
Team Work:
Work with other team members to achieve store goals, assist with stock management, and participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
Requirements:
- Previous retail experience, preferably in an animal-related environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for animals and knowledge of common animal care practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Basic computer skills for operating point-of-sale systems and stock management software.
