Clinical Logistics Specialist
The Clinical Manufacturing and Supply (CM&S) function is accountable for the supply of medicines to support AstraZeneca's clinical trials. This includes planning, drug substance manufacture, drug product manufacture, packaging and distribution to depots / clinical investigator sites.

The Clinical Logistics team within CM&S has the accountability to ensure the distribution and logistics requirements of our supply chains are being met.

Reporting to the Director, Clinical Logistics and part of the Clinical Logistics team, this position will focus on the CM&S Logistics' global standards, processes and systems required to ensure clinical study drugs are shipped, exported, imported and stored in accordance with authority regulations (including trade, customs and Good Manufacturing/Distribution Practices).


Accountabilities:

As a Clinical Logistics Specialist, you will support CM&S teams to deliver optimised clinical study logistics strategies. Deliver the logistics set up activities for new and ongoing clinical studies.

Act as a Subject Matter Expert in key areas of clinical logistics including temperature controlled distribution, import, trade & customs, lead times and market requirements.

Support the CM&S Logistics team to establish and maintain standards, processes and systems. Build data-driven processes that are embedded in the AZ Supply System principles (Lean). Ensure CM&S Logistics performance objectives are being met.

Demonstrate strong collaboration with logistics partners, CM&S and other stakeholders to ensure the activities meet the objectives of our business.

Support the Director, Clinical Logistics to deliver the overall clinical logistics strategy.


Essential Skills/Experience:


  • Education according to CV.
  • A minimum of 3 years prior experience within a supply chain environment.
  • Experience of logistics within global supply chains.
  • Familiarity with Temperature Controlled Logistics within global supply chains.
  • Export/Import and Trade/Customs experience.
  • Experience working with external vendors.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team player, with the ability to identify and communicate key issues for resolution.
  • Fluent English ability.

Desirable Skills/Experience:


  • Experience of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
  • Experience of complex clinical programmes and supply chains.
  • Familiarity with global import requirements.
  • Familiarity with Lean tools and concepts.
  • Working knowledge of the logistics industry and the various government agencies and regulations involved with the distribution of pharmaceutical products.
