OVERVIEW:

As SHE Coordinator, you will be responsible for driving the Health, Safety and Environmental agenda, creating a safe working environment for the business, keeping us legally compliant.

You will assist with creating and implementing policies and procedures, ensuring our colleagues understand and follow them.

You will also be responsible for preventing accidents, injuries and work-related illnesses within the workplace and doing our best for the environment.

You will act as the conscience for the business to ensure our colleagues are safe, our standards are as they need to be and that we are encouraging best practice.


WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:


Your key focus is to ensure that we provide a safe working environment for our colleagues.


To do this you will:


  • Create, implement, and continually review Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures ensuring that they encourage best practice, mitigate risk, ensure legal and audit compliance and keep our colleagues safe.
  • Monitor and embed the processes, including the investigation of all lost time incidents and management of the incident recording system, to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure Health, Safety and Environment policies and systems are managed effectively to support the adherence to all relevant legislation and agreed internal standards
  • Conduct regular audits of policy, ways of working and compliance to standards by regularly walking the factory and site.
  • Record risks and hazards observed and provide recommendations, ensuring that corrective actions are taken, and that progress is monitored.
  • Ensure appropriate risk assessments are in place which includes analysing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the risks affecting the business and providing solutions to mitigate this.

You will drive continuous improvements in SHE standards.


Your focus will be to:


  • Champion and continually improve colleague capability by regularly reviewing training needs and skills gaps and ensuring appropriate solutions are in place around SHE.
  • Ensure that all colleagues receive adequate SHE training which is appropriate and relevant to their role.
  • Create and deliver SHE training and regular coaching sessions for colleagues.
  • Investigate nonconformance and ensure that corrective actions are identified, taken and have been closed out, ensuring recommendations and decisions are taken where required.
  • Regularly review whether we are fulfilling our statutory obligations and confidently advise on levels of risk to the business with a commercial, solutions focused approach including risk escalation.
  • Assist with the design, development, and implementation of the sustainability agenda (including our carbon roadmap).
  • Support the environmental risk assessment to support compliance in the sites Environmental Management Systems.
  • Support the EPC permitting regulation process to enable the site to maintain annual recertification.
  • Work closely with the onsite Facilities Management Team.

As an expert, you will collaborate with different teams across the business and have responsibility for ensuring that:

  • You are present and visible on the factory floor and across the site to drive the SHE agenda.
  • All accidents are reported and thoroughly investigated, and that the appropriate recommendations are made to prevent a similar accident from occurring.
  • The delivery of regular and relevant HSE KPI data with recommendations regarding areas for opportunity to help improve performance.
  • Identify and evaluate risk and report risk in an appropriate way for different audiences, so that all are aware of the risks relevant to their areas.
  • You maintain up to date and relevant HSE knowledge to ensure statutory compliance and keep up to date with external trends and best practice and that you are proactively sharing this.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:


  • An energy and passion to drive compliance, best practice and continuous improvement in SHE.
  • The ability to challenge, coach and influence others to follow our policies and procedures.
  • A proactive solution focused approach and are able to use your initiative, be decisive and solve problems.
  • Experience in Manufacturing, Engineering or site facility roles with responsibility for H&S, Environmental.
  • HSE qualification, e.g. NEBOSH, CIEH, IEMA.
  • Good understanding of HSE legislation.
  • Experience of assisting H&S or environmental projects.
  • Strong problemsolving skills leads others in problem solving & root cause analysis.
  • Record of leading, engaging, coaching, mentoring etc.
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong communication skills with experience of building relationships, with the ability to coach, advise and drive a zeroaccident culture.
