This busy department which provides Blood Science services for the patients of Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and surrounding GPs; requires a Team Leader to support Reception activities.

Also to participate in cross site working between Wigan and Salford as and when required.

(It is anticipated that in the future, duties could include work based at any of the sites within PAWS or the Northern Care Alliance).

You will assist the Specimen Reception Manager to provide a timely, comprehensive and high quality Pathology Service.

You will be part of a team responsible for the receipt, distribution, pre analytical preparation and processing of laboratory specimens.

You will supervise, organise and allocate work for staff in the Reception area. You will maintain laboratory and staff training/competency records.


You should be very organised and methodical with good communication and excellent team working skills and be educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.

It is important to note that you will be required to participate in the laboratory rota, which requires delivery of a 24/7 service.

This post involves working late shifts i.e and night shifts as part of the department's commitment to out of hours cover.
