Description

The Respiratory Team at University Hospital Southampton has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic trainee to gain experience in Interstitial Lung Disease.

A 0.8FTE fixed term appointment for up to 24 months, there may be the future option to increase to 1.0 FTE through additional research time.


Southampton Interstitial Lung Disease Service is a designated Regional Specialist Centre and an anti-fibrotic prescribing centre serving the Wessex region with >500 referrals/year.

The ILD team comprises six ILD consultants, two ILD specialist nurses, one ILD Pharmacist, and an ILD MDT coordinator.

ILD service is supported by radiologists and pathologists with an interest in ILD, rheumatologists, and when required on-site thoracic surgeons.

Further support is provided by a comprehensive lung function laboratory, and BAL differential cell count service.

ILD team participate on national ILD clinical and research advisory groups and have a strong publication record in clinical trials.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Outpatient clinics (ILD and join rheumatology-ILD)

Weekly ILD MDT preparation, attendance and outcoming support

Support departmental participation in the BTS Interstitial Lung Disease Registry

ILD CNS and Pharmacist Support

Quality improvement and/or research projects


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Enthusiastic, engaged clinical fellow with a keen interest in interstitial lung diseases.

Interest in conducting own quality improvement or research projects


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION


Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists).


Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular.

Basic salary detailed below plus any additional remuneration (as applicable) for hours set out in the doctors work schedule (e.g.

additional hours, weekend allowance, and any hours which attract enhanced pay)

Basic Salary - MT04 £55,329 Basic Salary - MT05 £63,152

Salary will be assessed based on experience and skills. Eligibility criteria for appointment to a Nodal Point 5;
Have a minimum of 6 years of Specialty training

Hold relevant higher specialty exam (e.g FRCP, FRCA, FRCS)

A portfolio of evidence that demonstrates they meet the criteria for progression (in line with the Curriculum for the speciality similar to deanery trainee

Travelling expenses will not be paid for attending interview

Interviews will be held on TBC
