YMCA Robin Hood Group is a complex and diverse not for profit organisation supporting vulnerable adults, young people and children as well as the wider community across Nottingham.


The organisation has gone through considerable growth and change but now needs to embed best practice and consistency in our marketing with particular focus on scalability and income generation to support the programmes we run.


The appointment of a Head of Marketing is an exciting addition to the team as we look for someone to take dual responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the marketing department whilst driving the creation, design and implementation of all marketing plans, branding strategies and targeted campaigns.

Drawing on all your previous experience, this is a broad role across all marketing disciplines where you will be supporting each of our very diverse service areas.

The scope of this role is what brings the interest, variety and challenge as you work with each of our internal stakeholders to support their specific needs and objectives.

On a day to day basis you can expect your role to include:

  • Day-to-day leadership and management of the marketing department, ensuring that all team deliverables and objectives are met.
  • Creation, design and implementation of all marketing plans, branding strategies and targeted campaigns in partnership with internal stakeholders to Csuite level.
  • Raise the profile of YMCA Robin Hood Group through the delivery of engaging content, across all relevant channels, across our many programmes.
  • Acting as the guardian of the brand and the voice of the customer, ensuring all marketing activities are causeled whilst delivering business objectives.
  • To ensure that all campaigns/projects/events are fully briefed and measurable and take ownership for the delivery of this including resource planning, reporting and budgeting.
  • To be the lead voice of the marketing department, ensuring ongoing, continuous communication and stakeholder management, both internally and with external partners.
  • To drive and increase brand awareness, support profile raising and to protect our reputation across the YMCA Robin Hood Group.
  • Implement and embed fitforpurpose metrics. Leading on data capture, reporting, analytics, and budget management across the department.
  • Leading on continuous improvements and recommendations for our own Marketing Communications
  • To lead by example and build a team of highly engaged, high performing marketeers.
  • To support the development of an organisational culture that puts our Christian core values Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility at the centre of all we do.


Whilst we are a not-for-profit operator, it is important to us to generate a surplus in order to reinvest in and grow the services we offer; we need a commercially focused marketing expert who can help balance our objectives and achieve our corporate aims.

We need your support and expertise to support with the scalability of our operations.


We are looking to see around 3-5 years experience in a role with similar responsibilities where you can demonstrate your ability to lead marketing operations and income generating activities which is vital to us.

We are completely open on your background and whether you have previous 3rd sector experience or not - the impact you can make on an organisation through your work is more important to us.

Whatever your background, it would be good to see you have worked with and can support the communications and PR requirements of a mid-size organisation too.

You must be happy to be hands-on and support with the day-to-day detail as well as high-level strategy. You will be as comfortable working closely with Executive Leaders, Senior Leaders and operational managers.

We are extremely lucky that we have some of the most dedicated and driven specialists in their field working for us, keen to work with support services such as Marketing to gain as much help and support as possible.


Our 2 key locations are Nottingham and Newark and we would envisage that you would work 3-4 days per week in either location with 1-2 days hybrid working from home.

We have a trusting approach to hybrid working where we ask you to be in the location you most need to be in You may be required to drive to our smaller locations in Mansfield, Worksop and Goole on a less frequent basis too.
