Description

To monitor the cleaning services to ensure an excellent standard of cleaning service is achieved throughout the organisation, evidenced by the quality standards agreed for clinical, non-clinical, estates and nursing.

Where the required standards are not achieved the role is to evidence why and works as part of the team in order to improve standards including sharing knowledge of good practice.


  • Provide excellent customer service to patient's and colleagues throughout the Trust
  • Bringing to the attention of the line manager any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that pose danger or risks to health and safety.
  • To carry out cleanliness audits across Trust sites as per the frequencies set out in the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness.
  • To ensure all areas for monitoring are carried out within the timescale required
  • To liaise with services leads within Cleaning, Nursing and Estates to ensure that all failures are rectified.
  • To manage all actions following the audits by creating, distributing and managing all outstanding, and escalating any issues through the correct escalation process.
  • To contribute to the continual improvement of audit elements where services can be improved to best support the domestic and clinical teams
  • To advise direct management of any areas of concerns, such a repeated failures.
  • To identify any trends in nonconformances to escalate areas of concern requiring additional support and include in reporting.
  • To provide assurance of accurate cleanliness standards across the Trust through highquality reporting and auditing
  • To manage and plan diary to audit all sites alongside site representatives within deadlines
  • To keep the star rating posters etc. uptodate at each ward & department.
  • To ensure any changes are updated on the auditing tools.


We offeran extensive range of services, includingcancer, pathology, surgery, and gynaecology to over 490,000 people in south west London and north east Surrey.

We operate two busy general hospitals, Epsom Hospital and St Helier Hospital, and run services from other locations, including Sutton Hospital.

We are also part of two innovative intergrated care partnerships - Sutton Health and Care and Surrey Downs Health and Care.


St Helier Hospital is home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, while Epsom Hospital is home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).

Both Epsom and St Helier hospitals have Accident and Emergency departments (A&E) and Maternity services (Obstetrics).


With nearly 900,000 people coming to our hospitals for care and treatment every year, our almost 5,000 staff and 500 volunteers work around the clock to keep our busy hospitals running smoothly.
