Retirement Security Limited was founded in 1983 pioneering the concept of ownership of sheltered housing in the UK. Retirement Security is a landlord, managing agent and developer of Housing with Care across the country. It has been continuously trading for 37 years and owns the freehold interest in 32 developments.


Management Tasks

  • Lead the planning and support the delivery of the Management Services by the Services Managers.

Ensure the Service Managers are well equipped to effectively implement and deliver services incorporated within the RSL Management Fee whilst ensuring such services are compliance with relevant legislation.


  • Contribute to developing the strategic direction of the service area and understand, interpret, communicate and implement Business Plan objectives.
  • To work closely with the Services Manager and Court Manager team to ensure the smooth implementation of Extra Care services within the Retirement Properties.


As Head of Care you will be managing a team that provides care to people in their own homes, ensuring that exceptionally high standards of care are being provided at all times.

You will initiate and implement a professional and compassionate home care service. You will also be involved in training and care/support planning within the service user's home


Key Responsibilities:


To be the first point of contact with all involved parties including local Authorities, CQC, GP's, Healthcare professionals and service user families and Care Staff.


Provide leadership, management, and the highest level of support to the Team, to ensure the very best outcomes in all activities carried out and that the services provided are of the highest quality.


Ability to take ownership of achieving the highest levels of compliance with regards to regulations, laws, quality standards & policies.


Continually review and improve processes to ensure the most effective and efficient service is being delivered to our service users.


Ability to identify and recruit high-quality Carer staff and subsequently implement excellent training to ensure that our high standards are continually met.


Ensure the provision of staff training is implemented and the delivery of very high-quality care services, to vulnerable people living in their own homes, is achieved consistently.


To take ownership of quality assurance and governance through scheduled Spot Checks, Service Reviews, Internal Housing and Care Audits, and Annual Surveys.


Ability to complete and continuously improve the Assessments, Risk Assessments and Support Plans to ensure the outcome of the client is achieved effectively and the customers' expectations are exceeded by going the extra mile.

  • Lead, manage and develop direct reports and support the development of the wider team, ensuring that the service is adequately resourced and capable of delivering the Business Plan Objectives and resulting Performance Indicators.
  • Lead the continued professional development of your team ensuring regular one to one appraisals and if required implementing performance management procedures.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures in line with current legislation, CQC, ARHM. ARC, EHO and the vision, mission values and business plan objectives.
  • Develop and maintain awareness across the services of risk management, and identify, manage and mitigate service area risks through ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, policy, procedure, financial regulations, standing orders and regulatory standards.
  • In conjunction with the HR Manager, support the Services Manager with HR/ER matters within the Business.
  • Ensure correct reporting of all absence within the Services Manager team.
  • Lead on the continual critical review of the Service and Management Fee delivery, engaging with RSL Senior Leadership team to ensure continuous improvement of services.
  • Continually monitor performance data to challenge performance, inform service changes, and to highlight new and emerging trends to RSL Senior Leadership Team.
  • Responsible in conjunction with Court Board of Directors and RSL Estate Surveyor for the overall approval of the Fund Future Maintenance in conjunction with Service charge budgets along with final approval of all Residential Property budgets.
  • Oversee procurement within the Properties
  • Section 20 notices, to ensure compliance with ARHM Code of Practice and Landlord and Tenant Act.
  • Compliance with ARCO annual audit. Ensuring all documentation is up to date and available.
  • Responsible for assessing changes to core operational procedures within the Properties, authorising user access and ensuring the provision of training for new staff.
