Are you an experienced Lead Admissions & Attendance officer seeking a new and exciting opportunity?


Milk Education are working in partnership with a co-educatonal multi-ethnic secondary school based in Newham who are seeking to appoint an experienced Lead Admissions & Attendance Officer to join them.

Experience of Leading an Admissions / Attendance team is essential for this position.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Line Management:


  • To train, lead, manage and supervise a small team of Attendance & Admissions Administrators and operate as a member of this team. Provide effective and efficient support to the Deputy Head with responsibility for this area.
  • To lead and manage, maintain and improve, the attendance, punctuality and admissions procedures.
  • To be responsible for the appropriate support staff appraisals and training, including arranging external training.

Attendance:


  • To oversee the twice daily processing of registers and any required follow up actions.
To ensure compliance with the DfE guidance on attendance.
To lead on all aspects of attendance and punctuality, including producing and analysing reports.

  • To produce and analyse reports for SLT and governors when required.
  • To monitor student absence and liaise with parents and carers, via telephone, meetings and written communications.
  • To liaise with, coordinate and support Achievement Leaders, Safeguarding Team, Exams Team and all relevant staff in all aspects of attendance.
To follow up all unexplained or unauthorised absences, especially for Persistent Non-Atendees.

  • To support families in understanding the importance of and ensuring that good levels of punctuality and attendance are secured to raise school attendance levels.
  • To liaise with Achievement Leaders and to oversee and lead the implementation of referral processes.
  • To deal with punctuality issues as requested by the Deputy Head.
  • To lead and oversee punctuality is maintained and improved.
  • To operate, maintain and develop the Rewards system in liaison with key members of teaching staff (e.g., Achievement Leaders).
  • To speak in briefings, meetings as appropriate to ensure that staff are aware of expectations and consistently improved processes related to attendance.

Admissions:


  • To work in conjunction with relevant staff in the administration of the school's admissions policy in line with LA guidelines.
  • To be responsible for the secure and accurate set up/tracking of midphase admissions and Year 6 to Year 7 transition admissions data.
  • To be responsible for the admittance, induction and monitoring of all midphase admission students to the school. This includes; parental and student interviews, liaison with previous school, assessment testing, bulletin messages, assigning buddies, liaising with Key Stage and Achievement
  • Leaders and other staff as necessary, creating computerised and manual pupil data files, assigning timetables and monitoring progress.
  • To monitor waiting lists and in line with LA guidelines, follow up non responses from families on the waiting list, including home visits.
  • To oversee the timely compilation and secure transfer of weekly student "on role" data to the LAs Pupil Placement Department.
  • To lead on improving and developing procedures and systems relating to the above.
  • To oversee the attendance team to ensure dealings with students, families and others are treated confidentially and approached with discretion, sensitivity and diplomacy.

Additional Duties

  • Such other duties, within the competence of the postholder, which may be required.
  • To work within the framework of the school ethos, adhering to the Code of Conduct for staff at all times.
  • To maintain high standards of professional behaviour and presentation.
  • All staff are expected to take part in necessary training and staff development.
