Senior Community Engagement Coordinator

Job Summary


In this new role, you'll support important activities that are critical to our future success in saving and improving as many lives as possible.


As Senior Community Engagement Coordinator, you'll help to make sure we have the right number and mix of donors to serve the needs of our diverse communities.

We'll expect you to deliver a local plan for community engagement activities to help us meet our goals.


Working with community groups and prospective donors, you'll help to inspire them into donating life-saving blood or, at times, organs, plasma, stem cells and bone marrow.


Striving to reduce health inequalities, you'll coordinate and deliver local activities that promote registration and donation by people of Black African and Black Caribbean heritage.

You'll also support the delivery and evaluation of broader community engagement work.

It's a role that will call for some travel including overnight stays.

The ability to create good relationships quickly, both within our organisation and externally, will be crucial to ensuring we develop the right activities within this crucial area of our work.

Main duties of the job
In this role you will support the delivery of the community engagement strategy within the donor experience directorate.

You will co-ordinate the delivery of regional engagement to ensure success with the right volume and mix of donors to meet patients' needs, today and in the future.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and delivering local activities that promote the registration and donation within those of Black African and Black Carribean heritage.
  • Supporting the delivery and contributing to the evaluation of the community engagement in support of the organisation's aims and objectives.
  • Developing a local plan of activity to ensure we meet the organisations aims and objectives. Although there is a heavy focus of working to secure RO donation, there may be times when this role changes focus to help Donor Experience (DX) through critical moments on other donation asks.
  • Using your experience of partner outreach and delivering local events, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive results for both this initititive and the wider directorate.
  • Working closely with the marketing campaigns team to ensure that opportunities for campaign activity identified through partnerships are effectively progressed.
  • Supporting other team members in the delivery of projects.
  • On occasions changing focus from blood donation to supporting to raise awareness and deliver against organ, plasma, stem cell and bone marrow donors.

About You

Experience and Knowledge

  • Successful track record of community engagement
  • Experience of supporting the development, delivery and evaluation of engagement programmes and events
  • Demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Experience of working with community groups in a professional or personal capacity
Experience of working with Information Technology using Microsoft Office packages at an advanced level (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)


Qualifications and Training

  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
