Your Role:

The Sun is looking to bring in a sharp and motivated Foreign News Reporter to join Fleet Street's most dynamic operation.


You will be joining a large and exciting team covering foreign news in a historic period of seismic world events.


As a casual reporter, you will have the opportunity to be offered full-time work while still enjoying some flexibility and the ability to accrue holiday pay.


Day to day you will:

  • Come brimming with ideas on how best to cover world events.
  • Be comfortable working across platforms, including appearing on camera.
  • Have a strong work ethic and an ability to work to directives and deadlines.
  • You will deal well with pressure and be a team player.
  • Have an instinct for how to 'sell' a digital story to get maximum impact on The Sun's platforms and also on social media.
  • Have excellent news judgement.
  • Help present stories in visually striking ways through the use of images, composites and videos.
  • Work independently to make wellinformed and quick decisions.
  • Flexible attitude to working hours across seven days, day or evening

What we are looking for from you:

  • Experience reporting at a national news organisation OR at least two years of experience reporting at local news level.
  • A working knowledge of the IPSO Code of Conduct, media law and ethical considerations.
  • Knowledge of social media, SEO and online publishing.
  • Excellent writing skills, especially the ability to bring vibrancy and clarity to articles with very tight deadlines.
  • An understanding of The Sun brand, both in print and digital.
