Azalea Care overview:


Azalea Care is an exciting new company established in June 2021, initially supporting young people who have a learning disability.

Our flagship home is in Peterborough. We will work with the majority of Local Authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups in England, Scotland and Wales.

Within Azalea Care we provide tailored programmes, therapeutic environments and through our highly dedicated and experienced adults members we empower individuals to progress to achieve their 'personal best'.

We are dedicated in improving the lives of young people who are looked after.

Azalea Care will support young people aged 8-18 who may have a variety of different backgrounds but will have a learning disability as their primary need.

We provide support 24/7/365 in our home which is located in Peterborough, the first home we plan to open is owned by one of the directors.


Job
Role:
To provide care and support services to children and young people with learning disabilities and associated challenging behaviours.

To act as a role model and create a safe and homely environment for all our young people to flourish and achieve the best outcomes in line with their abilities whilst maintaining health needs and ensure they are safeguarded at all times.

To support with meeting day to day needs and implement key working as well as liaising with professions involved with the children and young people to meet all areas of their care needs.

Permanent contract - full and part-time permanent positions available.


Salary:
£10.50 per hour + sleep in allowance of £40 per night


Qualifications:
Preferred Minimum Diploma Level 3 in Children's Residential Care or equivalent related studies. Diploma will be provided otherwise.


Safeguarding:

All applicants must:

  • Undergo an enhanced DBS check.
  • Provide at least two satisfactory references, one of which must be from their most recent employer.
  • Provide a commitment to adhere to all Azalea care's Policies and Procedures in order to safeguard the young people they are supporting.

Duties:


  • To promote the rights and interests of the young people whilst protecting them from danger, harm or abuse.
  • To advise, support, and exchange information with other staff team members to ensure consistent care and support at all times.
  • Residential Care Workers are expected to challenge poor performance within other members of the staff team should it arise, which can be supported during debriefs at the end of shift and promote best standard of care at all times.
  • To be responsible for provision of financial administration during their shift.
  • To be responsible for organising and promoting the smooth running of their shifts, this in line with shift planning and shift coordinator duties.
  • Residential care workers have responsibility to ensure that the environmental needs meet statutory requirements concerning Health and Safety regulations, reporting directly to their line manager any concerns.
  • To undertake sleeping in duties as required in line with the set rotas to meet the needs of the home at that time.
  • To attend regular supervision sessions, and to attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • To comply with and adherence to the policies, procedures, and practice of the home and to respond to emergencies which may arise within the service.
  • To provide a positive role model for colleagues and the young people to create a safe and homely environment.
  • To manage telephone enquiries and undertake administrative duties as required, (eg: log books, daily information sheets, accident book, incident forms etc.). Maintain case file records, including details of assessment plans, decisions, visits and the implementation and evaluation of action with regard to the care plan.

Key Tasks:


  • To undertake the inhouse induction programme upon commencing employment and to ensure understanding of information provided.
  • To be familiar with the assessed needs of each young person and contribute to the young person's plans and risk assessments whilst providing appropriate support as defined in these and review and implemented changes as they occur.
  • To understand and comply with all Regulatory requirements including Health & Safety, COSHH, RIDDOR and Accident/Incident reporting.
  • To maintain clear and accurate records as required by the policies and procedures, and to ensure that all records are completed accurately and to acceptable standards.
  • To ensure Health & Safety is maintained during their shift, reporting any hazards to their line manager, and ensuring rectification where necessary.
  • To undertake developmental training where offered, and to maintain & improve knowledge and skills in the interests of achieving young people's outcomes.
