_Please note that the starting salary for this position is negotiable depending on experience. Barnardo's are currently undertaking a pay and reward consultation and as such salary bandings are likely to increase from 1_ _st_ _April 2023._

The Surrey Wellbeing Partnership is a group of twelve charities, including Barnardo's, working together to meet the emotional needs of children and young people in Surrey.

The Partnership is part of a larger Alliance of organisations, including Surrey andBorders NHS Trust and Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust.

The Surrey Wellbeing Partnership aims to provide outstanding services for children and young people in need of emotional support and care.


Barnardo's are seeking to recruit x2 part-time (35 hours a week) Wellbeing Mentors/Case Coordinators who share our commitment and vision to develop an outstanding service and embed Barnardo's basis and values in all we do.

This position sits within the SurreyCommunity Wellbeing Team covering Waverley, Woking, Surrey Heath and Spelthorne.


As a Wellbeing Mentor, you will hold a rolling caseload of children and young people (6-18 years old) and will provide early intervention/support to them who are experiencing poor emotional health and wellbeing.

This may present itself in many differentways such as feeling lonely, isolated, unhappy, or anxious, having low mood or experiencing stress and can come from multiple causes.

Wellbeing Mentors will provide direct and virtual support, working collaboratively and with a strength-based approach to supportchildren and young people to improve their emotional wellbeing and resilience.


Part of the case coordination role will involve case load management and assessing referrals suitable for CWT, signposting onto more appropriate services if they are not suitable.

There will also be line management responsibilities for other members of theteam and at times you may be required to represent CWT at various meetings or networking events across Surrey.

The Community Wellbeing Team operates within a Thrive Framework where choice and shared decision making is fundamental.

It is a relational model, and we hold a non-judgmental and trusting relationship between the staff member and children, young people,and parents as crucial to their ongoing wellbeing.

You will receive training on the Thrive model at the start of your employment.

To be successful in this role you will

:

Have extensive experience in working with and supporting children and young people to implement strategies to manage their emotional health and wellbeing

:

Experience in planning, delivering and evaluating complex 1:1 wellbeing interventions, assessments, including risk assessments

:

Experience of advising and developing pathways necessary to support. sustainable long term improvements of the individual after CWT support has ended

:

Deliver strength-based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate emotional health and wellbeing needs

:

Understanding of how to work within a trauma-informed framework;

Skilled in managing challenging safeguarding issues within multi-agency frameworks

:

Demonstrate the ability to engage and communicate with both children, young people, their families, schools, and other professionals

Have good time-management, organisational, numeracy and literacy skills.
