Position summary


Eque2 is a software company backed by private equity, growing rapidly, and seeking to strengthen its second-level management team, operations and processes in readiness of future plans.


Reporting to the CFO, the Head of Finance is a new role which provides strategic support whilst leading the core finance function including management reporting, forecasting & long-term planning, modelling & covenant management, statutory reporting, audit, tax, treasury, investment appraisal, financial systems & processes improvement.


You will combine strong technical skills and experience with commercial awareness and lead a team of established finance professionals who can manage finances and partner with the wider business to add value.

You may be the natural long-term successor to the CFO.


We will shortly go-live on a new cloud-based ERP system and will be significantly enhancing the financial reporting and business intelligence capability.

It is also likely that you will be involved in due diligence projects, both buy and sell sides.


Responsibilities (self and/or team)

  • Oversee monthly processes & accounting
  • P&L, balance sheet, cash flow
  • Forecasting and longterm planning (incl sophisticated modelling)
  • Statutory reporting & audit
  • Tax and treasury, including covenant management
  • Projects and due diligence
  • System development
  • Process & policy improvement, documentation & communication
  • Investment appraisal
  • Commercial decision making (e.g. pricing, incentive plans)
  • Working with peers and stakeholders around the business

Skills, qualifications and experience

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or other internationally recognized certification
  • Big 4 background (preferred)
  • Recent SME experience
  • Proactive identification of risks and improvements
  • Effective communication, both written and verbal
  • Strong, nurturing approach to people management
  • Confidence in decisionmaking
  • Attention to detail but respect of deadlines
  • Due diligence (preferred) or willingness to learn
