Description

Ready for your next step and a rewarding career where you can make a real difference?

As an island nation, the UK is almost entirely reliant of the safe arrival and departure of shipping from its ports, with around 95% of the UK's goods entering or leaving the UK by sea.

Every single person in the UK consumes goods daily that have been imported by ship. Manufacturers, energy companies, supermarkets, hospitals and many more vital services rely on ships and seafarers for their imports.

Some 65 million sea-borne passengers globally rely on shipping for access to public services, employment, business and holiday travel every year.

While Trinity House is a charity dedicated to safeguarding shipping and seafarers, its role as a General Lighthouse Authority is essential to the prosperity of the UK.

The capability and development of our procurement and contract profession is vital to delivery our mission and vision, ensuring we continue to provide value for money services as a leading maritime organisation.

We are looking for a well motivated, enthusiastic individual who can demonstrate relevant experience within an industrial maintenance role.

A strong background in operating and working with mechanical plant and equipment, a clean driving licence and IT literacy is also essential.

You will be required to work as part of a team and on your own initiative, so strong decision-making skills, a flexible approach and a helpful attitude are all prerequisites.

As part of the Buoy Yard team in Swansea, you will be required to assist with the maintenance and refurbishment of buoyage and other aids to navigation; carrying out a wide range of duties keeping our Buoy Yard running smoothly, efficiently and safely.

Tasks will include water jetting; grit blasting; painting; crane work; general labouring; driving and other similar duties as and when required.

Occasionally, there will be the opportunity to assist as part of a team on remote Lighthouses around the coast. This may entail working outside of normal hours and short periods away from home. Appropriate compensation will be payable. Some duties will involve working in confined spaces and at heights, with the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

Full training will be given for all the elements of this position and you will be required to pass and maintain relevant qualifications, including fork lift driving and working at heights.

As an equal opportunities employer, Trinity House is committed to the equal treatment of all current and prospective employees.

We aspire to have a diverse and inclusive workplace and strongly encourage suitably qualified applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, to apply.

Applications to be received by midnight on Sunday 12 February 2023
