Care & Welfare Tutor-_with youth work experience_ (Temporary)


GRADE:

Youth Support Worker -Scale Point £24,496 - £26,357 per annum based on 52 weeks per annum, 36 hour per week)


HOURS OF WORK:
12 hours per week, term time only (2 days/ 44 weeks per annum)


LOCATION:

New-Bridge Integrated College


Responsible to:

The Bursar and Vice Principal (Learning, Care & Welfare)


Job Purpose:

-
To provide intervention and support to New-Bridge Students with a specific focus on attendance rates:

-
This role will involve working directly with young people to develop their social and emotional education by providing programmes of intervention support
:

-
To help students to build life skills, develop healthy relationships and make measured decisions.

Main duties and responsibilities:

-
SUPPORT:


  • To provide pastoral Intervention systems and support to the young people in the College
  • To facilitate home visits to support pupil attendance and support families
  • To provide Individual and one to one support sessions for students
- by appointment and drop in when required

To deliver Intervention sessions and programme for students
- strategies based on youth work methodologies and approaches

  • To update Year Coordinators with weekly appointment schedules
  • To facilitate Intervention plans based on pupil needs including managing emotions/ risk taking behaviours/ making decisions and personal accountability
  • To provide monthly feedback and reports to Year Coordinators on the students in their Year groups
  • To facilitate break & lunch time drop inn facilities for young people
  • To deliver intervention sessions based on Restorative Practices and Trauma informed practice and related research.
  • To support the education of our young people in preventative aspects of the curriculum

2.Other duties

  • To Participate in training relevant to the post
  • To contribute to fundraising initiatives in the College
  • To foster community outreach opportunities for the young people in the College
  • To participate in appropriate meetings with colleagues, parents and students.
  • To implement all school policies and procedures.
  • To play an active part in furthering the College's Integrated Ethos.
  • To lead initiatives with local churches in supporting young people as well further promoting the College's integrated ethos
  • Such other duties as may be assigned within the level of the post.

Criteria for Post of Care & Welfare Tutor

Qualifications

The criteria that will be applied at shortlisting is as follows:

Relevant Youth Work Qualification Level 4 (NQF) or above


Preference may be given to those applicants who:

A degree (2.2 or above) in one of the following disciplines;

  • Social Science,
  • Education (incl. Sports Studies),
  • Social Work, Early years and Childhood Studies,
  • Social Work
  • Sociology
  • Psychology
  • Counselling

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Youth Worker/ Youth Work background
  • Experience of working with Youth Service EA

Links with the Community

  • Links with External Youth organisations such as Youth for Christ, Youth Initiatives, Youth Links, Reach mentoring and can demonstrate how such links could be further developed in a school setting

Knowledge

  • Display an understanding of post primary school pupils and their social and emotional needs;
  • Display knowledge of Child Protection issues for post primary aged pupils.

Skills

  • Communication skills written and oral
  • Excellent verbal and written organisational skills;
  • Interpersonal skills
  • The ability to encourage others
  • The ability to keep up to date with legislation and how it affects young people
  • ICT skills.
