OUR MINISTRY


Westwoodhill Evangelical church is an Independent Christian ministry in East Kilbride that seeks to serve Jesus Christ in the heart of East Kilbride and make him known to the people in the town.


ABOUT THE ROLE


To oversee the expanding children's ministry at Westwoodhill Evangelical Church and pastor and support the children and families of the church.

Developing the spiritual health and wellbeing of our families and to bring the vision of WWH to life through the children's ministry.


Key Responsibilities and Duties


Advocating for children in all areas of the church with a focus on building faith that lasts, equipping and encouraging the whole church to support families in parenting children for faith.


Organising, facilitating and resourcing Sunday and midweek children's groups at WWH, providing engaging, relevant and challenging content for 0-11 year olds.

Overseeing and running the mid-week parent and toddler groups, including growing a focal outreach ministry within our local community

Ensuring that the children's ministry is run safely, following the most current safeguarding policies and procedures, including risk assessments and other practices


Leading, training and developing the already sizeable and enthusiastic children's volunteer team ensuring they are also spiritually and pastorally cared for.

Identifying new volunteers and raising up fresh leaders to grow the ministry


Benefits
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) with 2 full days off a week. Negotiated contract hours will be considered for a part time position if required.

You will be primarily based at church but there will be opportunities to work from home where appropriate.

You'll need to have a flexible approach to the working week, understanding that evening and weekend work will be required on a regular basis as part of the role

Full-time salary: upto 24k per annum and pension provision depending on experience and contracted hours.

25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, but there may be a requirement to work some Bank

Holidays due to the importance of the church services on these days. (These will be discussed and agreed throughout the year )

practicing Christian sympathetic to the aims and objectives of Westwoodhill Church

ABOUT YOU


Being a committed Christian, willing to be a vital part of the WWH family and a desire to bring children, young people and families to faith in Jesus Christ.


Essential

Working with children and families of different backgrounds and abilities with a track record of leading children's work in a Christian context.

(a formal qualification related to these areas is welcome, but not essential).

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with children, parents and church staff alike

Ability to comfortably and clearly speak and write to a range of age groups including adults

Ability to engage and teach children in compelling, creative and varied ways

Brilliant administrative and IT skills

A visionary approach, a hunger for pioneering new initiatives and be able to work at a strategic level

Experience in recruiting, training and leading teams of people

Excellent attention to detail, the ability to plan ahead, be flexible and prioritise

Ability to lead with sensitivity, manage pastoral concerns delicately and adhere to a high level of confidentiality.


Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 36 months

Part-time hours: 37.5 per week


Salary:
From £22,000.00 per year


Schedule:

  • Weekend availability

  • GLASGOW: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:


  • Experience with children: 3 years (preferred)
