    Job description:

    There is a minimum of two roles spread across the Commercial Operations team.

    These roles will offer the opportunity to work on a broad set of objectives on things such as building supplier relationships with some of our key suppliers, looking at how we can get assess the financial health of our suppliers and how we can ensure we are getting best value for money from our supplier relationships right across the health family.

    This opportunity to experience a broad range of DHSC commercial activity, will not only develop your commercial skills, but will help you establish crucial networks across the function.

    Working within a fast-paced environment, you will bring communication and organisational skills to the role. This role involves working with a wide and diverse set of stakeholders and suppliers, with unique and niche requirements.

    Person specification:


    Main responsibilities across the roles could include the following:

    • Build relationships with key stakeholders across the Department and externally, maximising opportunities to collaborate, achieve efficiencies, improve capability and promote the commercial profession.
    • Support the development of commercial strategies, including spend analysis and use of market intelligence to understand the suppliers in the marketplace.
    • Define and capture benefits delivered via the commercial process including commercial savings and sustainability outcomes.
    • Provide commercial support to a portfolio of contracts this will typically involve assisting with larger contracts and directly supporting several smaller ones.
    • These activities are managed via commercial systems such as the Atamis eSourcing portal and Contracts Finder. You will be responsible for completing and maintaining the required records and process steps in the system.
    • Working as part of the Supplier relationship management team building supplier relationships, pulling together relationship plans and drawing up result orientated action plans.
    • Monitor team inboxes and carry out initial review of business cases.
    • Take on other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the grade of the role as required.

    Key skills and experience required for the role:

    • An ability to plan, organise and manage your own time effectively.
    • Strong verbal and written skills, with an ability to communicate with clarity and confidence to a wide range of stakeholders.
    • Competent with Microsoft Office programmes such as Outlook, Word, Teams and Excel.
    • An ability to prioritise and deliver at pace.
    • Ownership of tasks from initial stages through to completion.
