Description
Gardener required

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a driven and motivated Gardener to join one of the most outstanding gardens in the Cotswolds.

The extensive gardens and grounds have been developed by the gardening team and the owners over the last 32 years and exhibit a standard of horticultural excellence.

The gardens cover 9 acres and include terraced lawns bounded by an embanked terrace and a shrub and timber belt, formal borders, ponds, walled garden and vineries, peach house, propagation house and glasshouses.

The newly-appointed Gardener will join a team of three, reporting into the Head Gardener and will be responsible for the maintenance and on-going development of the gardens.

Daily tasks will vary but will involve a hands-on approach, with a particular focus being placed on the productive areas of the garden, such as the vinery, peach houses, and orchard, doing so with an organic and sustainable approach.

They will have the drive and passion to maintain the gardens at the existing high standards and work with the team on enhancing the garden as required.

Applicants should ideally have a minimum level 2 horticultural qualification, PA1/PA6 spray certificates, combined with good plant knowledge, excellent technical skills, and the ambition to continuously enhance their skillset and experience.

They will need to be organised and able to plan and prioritise their workload.

Experience with propagation work and growing fruit and vegetables is essential, alongside strong knowledge of pest and diseases and the use of biological controls.

This is a role which would suit an enthusiastic, capable Gardener with a positive character. The role will involve working closely with the Deputy Head and Head Gardener. Good communications skills are required and the ability to work well alongside other team members.

They should be prepared to work outside in all weathers and be good at operating a range of garden machinery.

A 2 / 3 bed accommodation is available for the successful applicant, should they be interested, on a short hold tenancy agreement, with a small sum payable per annum.
