We are looking for 1:1 Teaching Assistants to join our team at Chesham House School based in Bury.

Chesham House offers a quality and personalised education for up to 20 students ranging from 10 to 18 years.

Teaching staff are support staff are supported and encouraged to be creative and forward thinking in their approach to teaching, learning and support.

In addition to our academic curriculum, students engage in a range of external enrichment activities, as well as vocational learning off site, allowing learning to be extended beyond the classroom.

Pastoral support and relationships within our school are strong and wellbeing and relationships are at the core of everything we do.

We are looking for a passionate Teaching Assistant.

As a Teaching Assistant you will need to have a passion for working with young people and want to make a difference in people's lives.

The young people that you will be working with, have behavioural problems and have experienced trauma and so we would require an individual who will bring positive commitment to young people and has an awareness of their issues.


We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who will:

  • Support groups of students in lessons or 1:1 situations both on and off site.
  • Assist the Teacher/Tutor in the preparation of work.
  • Support students to make progress in formal learning situations as well as with selfhelp skills, life skills and social understanding.
  • Build successful relationships with our students to enable them to make progress despite their barriers to learning.
  • Understand the complexities of our students and support them to make progress with their personal development.
  • Manage a range of behaviours as part of a skilled and supportive team.
  • Support in administrative duties as necessary.
  • Engage with career and training development
