University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust provides a range of acute, community, social care, mental health, and specialist services, holding a unique role as one of the few Trusts in the country to deliver this breadth of services.

Providing core secondary care services to 475,000 people, the Trust's catchment for specialist services stretches across a wider population of just under 2,000,000 people.

The Trust employs almost 10,000 people, who are proud to deliver outstanding care to patients and local communities.

The Trust is a teaching hospital in partnership with the University of Plymouth, as well as working with Plymouth Marjon University.

Based in a city with a strong military tradition, they have a tri-service staff of nearly 200 military doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who are fully integrated within their facilities.

The Trust serves a diverse population across a mixed rural and urban geography and is committed to tackling the health inequalities present in its communities.

The Trust is now looking for a new Company Secretary and Associate Director of Corporate Governance to join their team, working closely with their executive and non-executive directors to provide leadership, expertise and oversight to enable the Trust to deliver effective governance, advising the Board and senior management on compliance and assurance, and ensuring it is Well Led in support of the patients they serve.

As NHS organisations increasingly work together as an integrated system, the Trust's internal governance needs to be agile and aligned with that of the wider systems across Devon and Cornwall.

This is creating exciting new ways of working and opportunities to shape new approaches to the underpinning governance required.

They are seeking an exceptional individual with technical expertise in corporate governance, who will be able to ensure that the Trust complies with all relevance legislation, and with a track record of leading annual reviews, ensuring national regulations, governance structures and policies are implemented.

But equally, they need someone who will be a positive role model within the organisation, providing effective and professional leadership to employees and promoting a culture of opportunity.

Effective and timely decision making can make a significant difference to the quality of patient care, and this role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on this.
