Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our London office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for running large projects, undertaking client-facing roles, and developing engineering projects for various building types.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and design of engineering projects for electrical installations, systems, equipment, and facilities.
Specify applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for building engineering services.
Conduct surveys, tests, and dilapidation reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations.
Ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing meet functional specifications and customer requirements.
Make day-to-day decisions on project progress and provide advice to clients.
Represent the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractors.
Maintain engineering calculations and drawings to industry and legal standards.
Coordinate engineering services and apply engineering concepts and solutions effectively.

Requirements:

BSc/BEng or equivalent degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND plus relevant experience or equivalent.
Working towards Chartered Eng status.
Significant experience in specification design for multiple building types.
Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation.
Familiarity with MS Office applications, IT-based calculation software, and spreadsheet software.
Good understanding of BS standards, UK Regulations, and Codes.
Ability to prioritize workload, work to deadlines, and manage projects effectively.
Presentation skills and ability to support project delivery according to RED's Project Delivery Process.

Salary:

£60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
