About the team:


At Vintage Cash Cow, our Financial team plays a crucial role in ensuring the organisation's smooth operation of financial activities.

As an Accounts Assistant, you'll join a dedicated team led by our Finance Director and collaborate closely with our Financial Controllers to maintain accurate financial records and support various accounting tasks.


About the role:

As an Accounts Assistant at Vintage Cash Cow, you will be instrumental in supporting our finance department. You'll handle various accounting responsibilities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, and essential administrative support.


Key goals and objectives:


Your primary goal will be to contribute to the efficient functioning of the finance department by accurately processing financial transactions, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.


In your first three months you will:

  • Familiarise yourself with Vintage Cash Cow's accounting processes and systems.
  • Gain proficiency in Sage 50 and other relevant software.
  • Begin handling accounts receivable and payable tasks with support from the team.
  • Assist with bank reconciliation and general ledger maintenance.
  • Provide support in administrative tasks within the finance department.

In your first six months you will:

  • Take on more responsibility in processing invoices and managing accounts.
  • Independently reconcile supplier statements and resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Assist in preparing journal entries and accruals as required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in handling various accounting tasks.

In your first year you will:

  • Play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records in the general ledger.
  • Act as a reliable resource for the finance team, providing support and assistance as needed.
  • Contribute to process improvements within the finance department to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Continuously develop your skills and knowledge in accounting practices and procedures with support from the wider finance team.

Key responsibilities:


  • Accounts Receivable:
  • Issuing and processing invoices accurately and promptly.
  • Monitoring accounts, following up on overdue payments, and resolving discrepancies
  • Reconciling payments received with outstanding invoices.
  • Accounts Payable:
  • Processing supplier invoices with precision and adherence to company policies.
  • Managing supplier payments and reconciling statements.
  • Resolving any invoice discrepancies or payment issues with suppliers.
  • Bank Reconciliation:
  • Ensuring accurate reconciliation of bank statements and resolving any discrepancies.
  • General Ledger:
  • Maintaining accurate and uptodate records in the general ledger.
  • Assisting with journal entries and accruals as required.
  • Administrative Support:
  • Assisting with filing, data entry, and document management within the finance department.
  • Providing support to the Financial Controllers and other team members as necessary.

Essential skills and experience:


  • Previous experience in an accounts assistant or similar role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, Sage 50 desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial tasks.
  • Excellent organisational, timemanagement, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced, scaling organisation.
