Description
The SAFE Test laboratory is part of the St George's Genomics Service and has been in operation since 2015 as a joint venture with St George's Fetal Medicine Unit.
The service operates from a purpose built laboratory and is currently accredited by UKAS to ISO 15189.
St George's Genomics Service is part of the wider South East Genomics Laboratory Hub, working to deliverer genomics services to the South West London region.
The post holder will undertake the duties of a Genetic Technologist by the provision of an effective and high-quality service to patients.
They will work under the direction of the Senior Genetic Technologist and Operational Lead/Quality Manager and will support the supervision the GT team providing the SAFE test service.
The primary duties of the post holder will be to take responsibility for the provision of the complex technical services for NIPT and to support the training and supervision of other technical staff.
The post holder will be trained in the skills necessary to perform routine laboratory procedures consistently and well and will be expected to troubleshoot.
The post holder will be expected to work in a highly organised and methodical manner, with a high level of accuracy and understanding of the technical and managerial aspects of the role.
