As CNC Machinist at NOV Monopumps in Greater Manchester you will be responsible for using your expert knowledge to operate and control numerically controlled (CNC) machines.

Where feasible you will use your knowledge of relevant programming languages and input them into CNC machines for production, while ensuring products have precise and accurate measurements.

You will be keen to take on challenges, develop your leadership and or skills potential as well as expand your knowledge and experience through a variety of exciting initiatives.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Be responsible for producing quality parts on CNC machines in a timely, safe and efficient manner
  • Perform setup changes, operate and conduct first article inspections on production runs
  • Load parts utilising overhead lifting equipment, proving programs, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements
  • Identify problems prior to production runs, observe machine operation to detect any other malfunctions or outoftolerance conditions and adjust machine controls or control media as required
  • Read engineering drawings, precision measuring instruments and job orders to determine dimensions, tolerance and tooling requirements
  • Maintain knowledge of dimensions and tolerances for tooling instructions such as feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and cutting tools to be used

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:


  • Time Served apprenticeship within a CNC machinist discipline, equivalent to either City and Guilds Level 3, or NVQ Level 3 (essential)
  • ONC/HNC in Mechanical and Production Engineering (desirable)
  • Familiar in working within a high productivity machine shop environment (essential)
  • Operating a variety of CNC machines (essential)
  • Manual Machining Experience would be an advantage

SKILLS, TRAINING or SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE:


  • Operating a variety of CNC machines
  • Computer literacy
  • Manual handling, slinging and lifting
  • HSE awareness
  • CNC programming knowledge on Mazatrol and Fanuc controls Multi Axis CNC Machining Experience
