Feature Story News is a dynamic and growing international television and radio news agency with bureaus, studios and reporters providing high-quality finished broadcast product for television and radio stations around the world. We seek live news technical coordinators/technicians with excellent technical and communication skills to join our global team supporting live news operations.


The live news coordinators will have experience with IP-based live news transmissions delivering from fixed studios, major events and via mobile delivery systems.

They will be cool under pressure, be good at prioritising and troubleshooting technical issues, and willing to learn new technical systems.

This is not however only a technical position.

Our live news coordinators play a critical role in being a bridge between international broadcast clients, reporters and news editors in bureaus around the world.

This requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to put yourself in the shoes of others to understand the needs of clients and reporters to ensure a smooth flow of communications.

A keen interest in international news and the editorial needs of our clients is important.


You will be part of a 24x7 global team of coordinators, operating within an inclusive team-based culture, with client service as your number one priority.


Key skills:

  • Relevant experience working as a Master Control Operator in a news environment. Previous experience working in the field will be an advantage.
  • Proven competence with IPbased delivery including encoders, decoders, cloud servers and a variety of stream formats.
  • Problemsolving abilities including resetting equipment and adjusting parameters such as latency, resolution and bandwidth
  • Excellent communication skills including using a variety of electronic communications and bookings systems to connect broadcast clients with reporters, bureaus and news editors. This requires having a keen understanding of client requirements and the information needs of journalists and crews in the field.
  • Team skills. You will be a member of a global 24x7 team of live news coordinators, sometimes being a team member and sometimes leading a shift, so the ability to both take instruction and delegate authority is important. On a broader level you will be part of the wider Feature Story News editorial operation so understanding client needs and company priorities is essential.
  • This is a shiftbased role involving working weekends, nights and public holidays.
  • Between 25 shifts per week.
  • Onjob training will be provided
