Bawn Cottage is currently recruiting for a part time Maintenance person who has an interest in DIY and will promote excellent health and safety standards within and around the home, supporting the Home Manager to maintain a safe environment.

Main duties will include:

To carry out repairs and maintenance tasks within the limitations of individual capability in all areas of the home as requested by employees and the management, complying with the Care Home's policies and procedures.

To understand and meet statutory and legal requirements such as Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety, and to maintain a safe environment throughout the care home.

To carry out specific maintenance and regular safety checks (including fire) as identified in the maintenance check list, keeping accurate, up to date records of the checks.

Reporting any deficiencies to the Home Manager and following these up promptly.

To respect residents at all times, especially their individual right to privacy, dignity and choice, incorporating residents' needs and requirements into your work routine so that the Care Home is pleasant to both live and work.

To liaise with the management ensuring the care home is maintained in good decorative order, the environment is comfortable, friendly and has a 'homely' feel for the residents.

To liaise with external contractors entering the home when carrying out authorised work to ensure that all requirements relating to Health and Safety and the Health & Social Care legislation are fully met.

To be approachable and interactive with colleagues, contributing to team meetings and helping other staff as appropriate.

£11.00 per hour
