Job Summary:

This is a senior role with the remit of supporting the Group Head of Claims in developing and implementing a strategic vision for the operation of Beazley's global Claims Team.

This vision incorporates areas such as internal organizational structure, optimization of outsourcing / insourcing both tasks and claims handling, operational and technology innovations, and data and analytics.

This role also leads the Claims Business Management Team which has oversight of delivery of all corporate requirements (e.g.

business planning, expense challenge), data ownership, claims related third parties (TPA's and expert providers), control environment, and governance and regulatory interactions.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Team Vision
***- Work with the Group Head of Claims to develop and maintain our strategic vision to enable the Claims functions to continue to be the highest performing specialist claims team; focusing primarily on building and maintaining an effective, scalable, flexible, and cost-effective claims model in line with our operating philosophy.

  • Translate this strategy into executable initiatives and both individually and through allocation of CBMT resources plan and deliver on these initiatives.
  • Work with the Group Head of Claims to plan and execute effective periodic offsites of the claims leadership team in order to review progress against the Group Claims Business Plan and discuss key strategic and operational issues.

Operational & Technology Innovations, Data & Analytics
***- Identify opportunities for centralization of services / processes to improve effectiveness, consistency, and service levels.

  • Develop business cases, design operating model and buildout prototype services to validate potential for long term centralization. Incubate teams and proactively monitor issues / improvements to increase long term success of concepts with stakeholders.
  • Represent the Claims Team in developing operational strategy and technology innovations / roadmap.
  • Drive innovation appropriate for Beazley's mix of business and specialized nature of business, identifying opportunities through internal and external discussions (including with our TPA and other external partners).
  • Ensure that the Claims Data and Insights Team delivers on its core responsibilities, including:
  • Act as data owner for Beazley's Claims data according to the terms of this role defined by Data Management.
  • Ensure that the quality of claims data as presented via our strategic reporting system(s) represents what we believe to be the most accurate and up to date picture of our claims portfolio available.
  • Build management information to support our Claims Team in delivering optimized outcomes including organizational (workload) and portfolio (severity) related MI.
  • Drive innovation in the use of our data to improve operational and portfolio outcomes.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all claims data related questions, primarily those from regulators and auditors

Governance and Regulatory
***- On behalf of the Group Head of Claims, ensure the effectiveness of Beazley Group Claim's Control Environment and ensure that the team is operating within its constraints.

  • Engage with other internal teams in discussions about emerging risks and necessary changes in our overall control environment or other procedures / policies.
  • Act as point person for any risk events and communications with the assurance functions across the group.
  • Liaise with Compliance on all regulatory enquiries including market examinations, overseeing your team's coordination of the production of documents, the answering of questions, and making staff available for interview.
  • Maintain strong positive relations with Lloyd's and ensure that the Claims Team is seen by them as a proactive and wellrun business in whom they have high levels of confidence.
  • Act as the main contact point for all Internal Audit and risk management enquiries, allocating tasks as appropriate.
  • Support the Group Head of Claims in ensuring appropriate KPIs are set and monitored to ensure that upward reporting of Group Claim's operations to the Executive / Board can be achieved.
  • Prepare agendas for Group Claims Committee to ensure that it follows its terms of reference and delivers on its mandate.
  • Assist with the preparation of Underwriting Committee, Executive Committee, and BFL Board reports and ensure escalation of appropriate issues.
Service Providers and TPA's

  • Oversee the effective procurement of all third parties related to Claims Handing including TPA
