    Senior Quantity Surveyor & Commercial Lead – Tier 1 Main Contractor

    We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Lead to join our team on a flagship £250m+ student accommodation project in Exeter. This large-scale scheme includes seven buildings – four high-rise, two low-rise new builds, and one major refurbishment – with a three-year build programme.

    Job Overview:

    The successful candidates will be responsible for the commercial and financial management of the project, ensuring profitability, cost control, and team leadership across the commercial function. Key responsibilities include managing subcontractor procurement, payments, and accounts, preparing cost/value reconciliations, CVRs and client valuations, and maximising margins while delivering value and maintaining quality.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Commercial Management: Oversee the commercial aspects of the project, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
    • Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and accounts to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
    • Financial Management: Prepare cost/value reconciliations, CVRs and client valuations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Margins and Value: Maximise margins while delivering value and maintaining quality throughout the project.

    Ideal Background:

    • Tier 1 or reputable main contractor experience is essential.
    • A stable UK career history is required.
    • Degree qualified or equivalent (RICS / CIOB desirable).
    • Previous experience on high-rise residential or student accommodation projects is preferred but not essential.
