Fuel Logistics Specialist, Aviation

The Fuel Logistics Specialist role lies at the heart of the organization and the Global Fuel Logistics team is one of the key market differentiators for WFS Aviation.

It is customer service combined with sales and operational/ sales support for our global customer database.

A Fuel Logistics Specialist has to have a can-do approach to our customers, who can be calling in from all types of companies and all around the world with different requirements.

The Fuel Logistics Specialist needs to understand different cultures and have an empathy for the differing needs of the different types of aircraft operators.


Fuel Logistics Specialist needs to feel confident to make calls to prospective customers and to build/develop those relationships (under the guidance of more experienced colleagues), and will also be responsible for directly managing some small accounts in order to grow volume and profitability.


Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Receiving and making telephone calls
  • Arranging fuel for customers worldwide (scheduled and adhoc flights), setting up and sending out Sales Orders to appropriate suppliers / airport contacts, and following up requests by phone as needed
  • Dealing with customer price requests for adhoc fuellings, (verbal and written)
  • Managing some small customer accounts under the guidance of more experienced colleagues
  • Good understanding of company credit policies, working with the Credit Team to ensure fuel is released in accordance with the current Credit Policy
  • Supporting the Sales teams with telephone and price quoting support
  • Working with the Supply teams to develop daytoday supplier relations
  • Updating database with fuel shortages and other critical operational information (FBO Comments)
  • Gain a good understanding of company and products/services offered
  • Assisting external and internal customers with pricing and other general queries
  • Visiting trade shows, attending customer or location visits, or working from another WFS office location (potentially) abroad for up to 2 weeks if requested
The Individual


Required:

  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • A good team player and collaboration skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good customer service skills, and the ability to build relationships. Customer services work experience is highly desirable.
  • Effective and professional telephone manner, commercial awareness and some business judgement
  • Ability to anticipate issues, work well under pressure and to prioritise effectively
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to deal with the unexpected, show initiative and work alone at times as required
  • Ambition to grow within a fastmoving organization
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge of MS Office suite.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of commercial, business and military aviation fuel market
  • Conversant in aircraft types
  • Experience in Oracle systems
  • Fluent in languages in addition to English
  • French, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable.
  • Basic working knowledge of world geography
