We are looking for a new Head of Housekeeping to lead the housekeeping team to ensure that our are home is cleaned and maintained to a high standard in accordance with guidelines and cleaning schedules

This is a team role, with responsibility for cleaning and maintaining The Home,
with emphasis on team work and communication. Being able to prioritise your
workload, get the job done and take pride in your work is essential.

Main Functions of the Job

  • To provide an efficient and effective Housekeeping service that fully meets the needs of residents and high standards expected within The Home
  • To work with the Health & Safety Coordinator to ensure all hazardous substances within The Home are stored and used in the correct manner
  • To identify and report any defects in the services to the Registered Manager
  • To ensure any potential workplace hazards, as a result of cleaning and laundry management, are avoided by the implementation of safe workingprocedures
  • Provide a high quality, efficient housekeeping and laundry service to ensure all areas are kept immaculately clean and all linen and resident'spersonal clothing/items are correctly laundered
  • To respect and maintain confidentiality of resident's personal information at all times, including their right to privacy, dignity and choice
  • To understand and comply with all statutory and legal requirements that are relevant, such as COSHH, Health & Safety, Health & Social Care Act2008 and Infection Control
  • To ensure all equipment is kept in full, safe working order and promptly report any faults to the Maintenance Team/Home ManagerEnsure all areas of The Home are supplied with adequate housekeeping items and in turn, maintain effective stock control procedures
  • Effective ordering and stock control of PPE including aprons, gloves and waste control supplies i.e. waste bins, bin liners etc.
  • Always be alert and use initiative to spot and clean any spillages as they occur
  • Ensure the laundry area is kept in a clean, tidy, well stocked condition
  • Actively comply with the Equality Act 2010, treating coworkers, residents and visitors equally, irrespective of gender, ethnic origin, age,disability or religion etc.

Previous housekeeper experience in a care setting would be desirable

Previous management or leadership experience would also be desirable
Maintain personal and professional development in order to meet the changing demands of the job role

Must have a working understanding of the Care Act and CQC's Essential Standards. To assist in the improvement and maintenance of these standards.
