Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday 8am - 5pm and Friday 4pm.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
- Providing support to the SHEQ Director
- Leading by example on everything SHEQ related
- Assisting with keeping Accreditations up to date
- Assisting the business with the ongoing implementation, development and improvement of ISO9001/14001/4500
- Working collaboratively with colleagues on a day to day basis providing guidance and advice in regards to compliance with statutory requirements and company standards
- Supporting, mentoring and coaching site based teams on behavioural safety
- Ensure Line Managers report any RIDDOR, accidents, incidents etc
- Reviewing/Undertaking method statements and risk assessments
- Proactively working with operational teams during the project lifecycle to ensure that SHEQ is considered at all stages and that relevant control measures are identified and implemented
- Undertaking 'active' monitoring via site audits/inspections and updating company reporting system
- Highlighting areas where poor practice and/or significant risk have occurred.
- Where necessary preventing/stopping works continuing onsite
- Being responsible for ensuring effective close out of corrective actions raised, open incident reports, and significant site issues
- Support in Investigating incidents and producing detailed factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvement
- Liaising with enforcing authorities as necessary
- Keeping up to date with new legislation and best practices in the industry through regular reading of journals and relevant website/site visits/training
- Raise company awareness on SHEQ and sustainability issues through Toolbox Talks, Guidance briefings and delivering training where necessary
- You may be asked to assist with responses to PQQ and Tender questions
- Any other reasonable management request
PERSON SPECIFICATION - COMPETENCIES
You will possess, or be working towards, a suitable qualification in Health & Safety e.g. NEBOSH / Diploma (evidence will be requested).
Essential
- Relevant experience of working as part of a SHEQ team
- Providing proactive support to operational business units
- Up to date knowledge of UK Legislation in relation to SHE
- Ability to work remotely
- First rate communication and influencing skills
- Good at developing relationships
- Flexible able to work at all levels and at hands on level
- Proven written communication skills
- Good level of numeracy
- Computer literate in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
Desirable
- Operation of an ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 and/or ISO 9001 based systems
- Report writing
- Ability to interpret legislation and ACoPs
