Description

Ferguson Transport and Shipping are recruiting for a Welder/General Handyperson. The position is based primarily in Fort William and requires flexibility to travel with overnight stays at Kishorn Port when the need arises.


Responsibilities:


  • Operate forklifts and any plant/machinery where trained and competent to do so
  • Using a variety of tools and machines such as blowtorches, forklifts, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, and water spraying equipment where trained and competent to do so
  • Assisting the Welding/Fabrication team and carrying out welding/fabrication work when required including steel, aluminum and TIG welding
  • Assisting with and welding project work (including design and measurement)
  • General housekeeping duties in various sites including but not limited to tidying, sweeping, salting walkways/paths, emptying bins etc.
  • Assisting with project work as directed by Line Management
  • Cleaning and preparing job sites
  • Loading, unloading and delivering of materials and stock as required
  • Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary structures
  • Working from other depots, including Kishorn and Company vessels
  • Ensure daily checks are carried out on all plant and machinery prior to use, following the defect reporting procedure at all times
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and controlled manner
  • Complete all necessary paperwork relating to tasks carried out
  • Report any damage, accidents or any equipment you deem to be unsafe
  • Ensure all working areas are kept clean and tidy. Any spills or mess to be cleaned up immediately.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by management
  • Ensure that you conduct yourself in a business like and professional manner at all times

Requirements:


  • Car drivers licence is essential
  • Appropriate welding / fabrication certification
  • Previous forklift experience (certification is an advantage, however training will be provided)
  • Ability to work as a team member as well as on own initiative
  • Ability to adhere to H&S requirements at all times
  • Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
  • Excellent problemsolving skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Pay:
£14.47-£17.64 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
