Procurement Officer. This is an exciting opportunity reporting into the Procurement Manager.

An Agile (Flexible) working policy is in place and will be discussed on appointment. You will have 26 days annual leave, plus eight bank holidays.

A minimum of four extra paid concessionary days are also normally provided each year, for extended University closure around some UK public holidays.


We are looking for a talented individual with experience of public sector procurement to take the lead on a range of procurement activity across the University.

As part of our close-knit Procurement Team, you'll have the opportunity to develop your professional knowledge and experience.


The Procurement Officer will take responsibility for their designated portfolio, and support the team as required with various procurement activities.

You will be required to interact with internal departments and Suppliers/Contractors, so strong communication skills are essential.


The Procurement Officer will be required to:

  • Manage multiple projects from inception to formal award of the tender through to monitoring during the term of the Contract.
  • Assist the University to achieve value for money through the promotion of best purchasing practice, as well as compliance with internal and external regulations governing procurement activity, providing professional procurement advice as required.

To be successful in the Procurement Officer role you will have:

  • Experience in a Procurement environment including a good understanding of the Public Contracts Regulations for Public Procurement and be conversant in procurement legislation/contract law.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and analytical skills.
  • A professional attitude and an ability to communicate positively with a variety of personalities and job roles at all levels.
