Full Time, Fixed Term for 18 months to cover maternity.
Bristol Museums has an exciting opportunity for a Collections Documentation Officer to join their Conservation and Documentation team.


Part of Bristol City Council, Bristol Museums is responsible for the care of collections held across 5 museum sites and Bristol Archives and welcomes approximately 1 million visitors annually.

Based at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery you will have the opportunity to work across all curatorial departments from art to archaeology, history to industry, the natural and the wider world, with many recognised as nationally and internationally important.


You will undertake cataloguing and digitisation projects, provide collections management support to the wider Collections Team, liaising with internal and external clients on loans and act as our lead EMu specialist and administrator (EMu is Bristol Museum's collections management system).


You will support the Conservation & Documentation Manager and the wider team to shape and deliver our collections management work programme including advising on best practice procedures, standards and copyright.

You will support our museum colleagues as the CMS specialist working to creating records, producing reports, troubleshooting and extracting information.


A strong understanding of collections management principles and procedures along with experience handling a range of museum collections should be highlighted and will be part of a practical assessment at interview.

You should have a museum relevant degree or equivalent collections management experience.

How do I apply?
**For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.

If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.
