We are recruiting for a Quality of Marking Lead to play a critical role in ensuring the products OCR develops have suitable quality assurance processes that result in valid, reliable, and manageable assessments for OCR.

About the role


Sitting within the Quality Support Team and reporting the Quality Support Senior Manager, the Quality of Marking Lead will play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of all marking-related processes to ensure we deliver accurate results to students and achieve regulatory compliance in this area.


Key accountabilities:


  • Design, develop and secure the implementation of new processes to assure the quality of monitoring of marking of both Vocational & Technical Qualifications (VTQ) and General Qualification (GQ) examined components.
  • Securing buyin for the adoption of new processes from internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct risk assessment analysis and devise and implement actions to resolve live series issues.
  • Propose and implement recommendations to improve the future performance at a generic suite, qualification type, or process level.
  • Provide support and quality of marking expertise in qualification development.
As a part of this role, you will line manager two/three Quality Support Managers.

Weekend work may be required during peak periods.

About you
In this critical role, you will require a comprehensive understanding of the context in which OCR operates.

This encompasses familiarity with the regulatory framework and requirements as well as Government targets, initiatives, and developments in relation to qualifications.


An understanding of assessment principles in relation to general and vocational / occupational qualifications, operational models, processes and procedures would also be beneficial to the role.


Decision making and problem-solving will be second nature to you, as you will have a proven track record to tackle challenges and arrive at sound resolutions.

You will exhibit excellent inter-personal skills, fostering strong relationships with colleagues and senior assessors.
