Job Description - Support Worker (Nights)


Location - Bullbrook, Bracknell


Type - Full Time


Salary - £24,000 per annum

About Project Home - We provide supported accommodation to care experienced young people who are aged 16-24.


The young people we support may have suffered childhood trauma and we aim to support each individual by adopting trauma-informed practices.

We are a passionate, committed team with over 50 years' experience of working with vulnerable young people.

Your Role - Your role as a Night Support Worker is to provide support to young people in a supportive and caring home environment working with young people with a focus on each person being able to:

Responsibilities

  • To provide exceptional and innovative support when and where it is needed
  • To build supportive, trusting, and positive relationships with young people
  • To encourage 'positive risk taking' within a safe risk assessed framework
  • To provide support with life skills and activities to ensure the young people enjoy a high quality of accommodation that is both safe and enjoyable
  • To involve the young people with the design, delivery, and development of the service
  • To fully understand the aims, objectives, and ethos of 'outcomes focused support services' and reflect these in your daily work.
  • To ensure that all Project Home and local authority safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to
  • To ensure that regular opportunities are given for young people to feedback on the service and for consultation and to ensure that this information is used to improve the service
  • To keep accurate, confidential, and up to date support records for effective and efficient working
  • To maintain the cleanliness of the premises
  • To attend regular meetings, training, and supervisions to help your own professional development
  • Any other reasonable workrelated tasks as requested by your line manager

Night Support Workers are responsible for the smooth running of our homes, and you will be required to work as part of a night time rota from 8.15pm to 8.15am averaging 42 hours per week over a 2-week period. The role will require working some unsocial hours as required to ensure the smooth running of the homes which will include working some bank holidays. We are a family friendly company and will endeavour to consider any personal commitments you may have.

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

  • Delivering person centred support by engaging with and delivering key work to young people
  • Working closely with external professional teams that support the young people
  • Ensuring the young person and the service is safe and to raise any safeguarding concerns as soon as you become aware

Experience, Skills, and Qualities

  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Ability to engage with young people with challenging behaviour and/or complex emotional and behavioural needs
  • Strong commitment to working as part of a team
  • Ability to work flexibly and be available if needed in an emergency
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational & time management skills
