Background to the Post
A fixed term contract post is available for a Senior Fellow (ST5+/Post CCT) in Paediatric radiology in the Department of Radiology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
This post is for a fixed term duration of 12 months.
The Department is primarily based at St Marys Hospital and offers a wide exposure to all aspects of diagnostic paediatric radiology.
The goals and objectives are to train the next generation of paediatric radiologists with an emphasis on clinical, teaching and research skills.
In addition to the clinical exposure to
MDTs and diagnostic paediatric radiology, there will be opportunity to develop teaching, academic and research skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
It will involve reporting of paediatric radiology (plain radiographs, CT and MRI) and performing of ultrasound, fluoroscopy and ultrasound/CT guided procedures.
The post will offer a broad general experience in paediatric radiology with specialist paediatric infectious diseases, haematology, nephrology/urology, musculoskeletal/rheumatology, neurology, trauma, PICU and NICU.
(a) The purpose of this post is to provide a broad training in paediatric radiology.The fellow will be expected to:
1. i) Work with the consultant and specialist registrars (SpRs) to fulfil the clinical obligations of the department,
2. ii) Participate in research projects,
iii) Quality improvement and audit activity,
3. iv) Participate in formal and informal teaching to SpRs, medical students and ancillary medical personnel
(b)
Clinical Commitment:
The fellow will initially be under the direct supervision of a consultant but will have a more autonomous role as he/she gains experience.
(c)
On Call:
Participation in a fellow on-call rota.

Regular meeting:
Weekly
MDTs include:
Paediatric nephrology/urology, paediatric general, paediatric infectious diseases, paediatric haematology, paediatric neuroradiology and neonatal radiology meetings.
On call: 1 weekday evening per week + 1 in 6 weekends. The successful applicant will be part of a fellow on-call rota, which supports the radiology SpR rota in reporting all acute/inpatient imaging. The post includes on-call supplement pay.
