Laboratory Assistant position
£22,000-24,000/annum full-time permanent post
(part-time considered pro rata)


Job requirements:


  • Routine hours: h, Monday to Friday
  • Late shift rota: h (about 1 every 10 days)
  • Parttime hours: h, Monday to Friday
  • Weekend overtime: occasionally required
  • Starting date: as soon as possible

Responsibilities of the job holder:


  • Receipt of blood, urine and other samples
  • Distribute and process samples
  • Support Biomedical Scientists with routine laboratory tasks
  • Prepare samples for analysis
  • Operate centrifuges and other laboratory equipment
  • Keep accurate records of sample processing and storage
  • Ensure that health and safety procedures are followed
  • Daily cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas
  • Carry out general laboratory cleaning, clearing and tidying duties
  • Archiving as required

Personal specification:


  • Live close to North West London or willing to relocate
  • Maths and English GCSE passes or higher
  • Have done at least 6months' paid work experience
  • Safety awareness
  • Good written and spoken communication
  • Wellorganised
  • Dependable and trustworthy
  • Flexibility over working weekends
