BREAKFAST CLUB WORKER AND TEACHING ASSISTANT - TA LEVEL hours per week. 38 weeks per year. Salary £18,887 PRO RATA
TO WORK UNDER THE INSTRUCTION/GUIDANCE OF HEADTEACHER TO UNDERTAKE WORK ASSOCIATED WITH EDUCATION, CHILD WELFARE, FOOD PREPARATION AND THE ON-GOING OPERATIONS OF A SCHOOL BREAKFAST CLUB TO ENABLE CHILDREN TO HAVE CHILD CARE AND BREAKFAST BEFORE THE SCHOOL DAY
Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to food, play and welfare activities
Assist with the development and implementation of individual education/behaviour plans and personal care programmes
Support children with reading and phonics progress following school policies and practices
Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
Support pupils, where appropriate and following school policies, with personal care needs including helping children clean themselves and change
Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities during breakfast club and in class.
Promote self-esteem and independence
Provide feedback to pupils in relation to their behaviour and independence skills.
Create and maintain a purposeful, safe, orderly and supportive environment,
Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
Assist with the planning and delivery of play activities
Monitor pupils' responses and behaviour at breakfast club
Provide feedback to teachers on pupils' welfare, safety and other matters.
Provide support, where necessary and appropriate, for children's personal care needs including helping children clean and change themselves following school policies
Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour
Establish and maintain positive and constructive working relationships with colleagues,
Establish and maintain constructive relationships with parents/carers and inform teachers and any other relevant staff of messages passed on by parents during breakfast club.
Clean dishes and keep the food preparation and serving areas clean and safe.
Help decide on menu choices with regard to healthy eating and pupil and parental feedback.
Provide clerical/admin. support e.g.
completing on-line and/or paper registers, reconciling income and expenditure, photocopying, ordering food (including on-line orders), record keeping (including electronic record keeping), filing etc.
Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate personShow awareness and support of diversity and inclusion and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
Demonstrate awareness and contribute to the school's safeguarding policies and practices on an on-going basis
Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
Understand and support the role of other professionals in school
Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
Assist with the supervision of pupils including their safe transition to class and to parents at the end of the school day
Any other related duties as may arise appropriate to the pay grade and role
