Are you passionate about changing our food system? Do you believe everyone should have access to growing their own food?

We are looking for a Project Coordinator to help us create more allotments around the country. If you have strong interpersonal and organisational skills and want to support our newly founded charity, we'd love to hear from you


Principal duties:


PROJECT DELIVERY

  • Identifying new allotments site, which includes scouting sites and assessing local allotment provision.
  • Launching and developing Green Allotment sites, which includes engaging with the local community, landowners, press, relevant partner organisations and local authorities.

FUNDING AND PARTNERSHIPS

  • Creating relationships with landowners, funders and other stakeholders who have an interest in supporting the project.

COMMUNICATION

  • Raising the profile of the charity by communicating the project's key messages and news updates through social media, newsletters, press releases and the website.

ADMIN AND OTHER

  • Support and collaborate with the Board of Trustees to achieve the charity's objectives.

Person Specification:


ESSENTIAL

  • Strong professional or volunteering experience of engaging with and supporting local communities.
  • Strong experience of digital communication including writing newsletters and using social media.
  • Understanding or interest in allotment gardening and/or horticulture.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written) with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Honesty, reliability and commitment to Green Allotment's work and values.
  • An ability to promote equality and diversity in all aspects of the work.
  • Enthusiastic, selfmotivated and resourceful.

DESIRABLE

  • Lived experience of having an allotment and/or being on an allotment committee.
  • Experience using WordPress and Mailchimp.

Job Type: 2 days per week - Flexible Working - Job share considered.


Salary:
Self-employed - £100-£200 / day dependant on experience.


Location:
Remote working based in England given the initial focus of our work. Regular meetings with the Board of Trustees are held online in the evening.

It is expected that this role will spend a significant amount of time travelling to potential or new allotment sites across the country.

Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
