Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists is a multidisciplinary referral centre based in Ringwood, Hampshire, offering a wide range of specialist veterinary services.

We have recognised specialists in the fields of anaesthesia, cardiology, dermatology, internal medicine, oncology, opthalmology, neurology, orthopaedics, diagnostic imaging, spinal surgery, soft tissue surgery.

We also have an animal rehabilitation team.

We are looking for a full-time member of staff to join our referral department. This is a busy team who are liaising with clients, veterinary professionals and insurance companies on a daily basis. Excellent customer service skills, a confident phone manner and attention to detail are a must.

Applicants must be able to multitask and work well under pressure, ensuring the job is done to a high standard.

Sharing information and working well as a team are also vital requirements.

Referral team members are required to assist with organising emergency cases and speaking to clients in distressing circumstances.

Therefore, you must be able to remain calm and empathetic to our clientele, whilst equipping them with the correct information to make the process as stress free as possible.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 9.30am-6.30pm no weekends or bank holidays.


You must be available for a face to face interview onsite we will then be able to show you around the practice and offices.

Daily tasks will include:

  • Dealing with telephone queries
  • Contacting clients and booking new referrals
  • Contacting insurance companies for policy information
  • Reading clinical history for information relevant to the condition
  • Chasing documents and dealing with queries from our own clinicians
  • Taking payments from clients
  • Assisting our clinical team with emergency cases and arranging emergency appointments when needed
  • Working on a face to face basis with admin team members and veterinary professionals.

From £24,980.80 per year
