EPUT is looking for a Team Leader who is passionate about employment as a way of positively impacting mental and physical health to oversee operations in the Mid Essex area providing high quality leadership and direction for a team including Employment Specialists, Peer Support Workers, Administration staff, Partnership Lead and Business Performance Manager.

The Team Leader will report to the Vocational Manager and be accountable for delivery of key contract targets for generating referrals and starts on the programme and also conversion into good quality sustainable paid job outcomes.

The role will involve providing supervision, training, mentoring and role modelling of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach, as part of the holistic recovery plan for mental health service users.

The Team Leader will provide a pivotal role in managing a high-quality service that meets fidelity standards and delivers positive outcomes for service users.


This is a fixed term until March 2025 full-time post (37.5 hours) per week and based at an EPUT site covering Mid Essex.


We are looking for someone with experience of:

  • Leading and supervising an employment team aimed at increasing access to paid employment opportunities for people with mental and/or physical health problems with ability to ensure the team meets their targets
  • Leading the development of local employer relationships in order to access the hidden labour market.
  • Able to negotiate diplomatically and effectively with staff at all levels, and users of mental health services.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • An understanding of the Individual Placement and Support Employment model would be valuable, but not essential as full training will be provided.

The new service is called IPS in Primary Care and the main focus is to work alongside primary and community healthcare providers who will be the main referrers into the service and deliver high quality support to help those referred to gain and sustain in paid employment
