2fawcett are currently seeking a
Purchasing Assistant to join our client based in Chesterfield.
The Purchasing Assistant must have experience in a similar role and will play a vital role in supporting a procurement team to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of materials and supplies necessary for our construction projects.
This position demands excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the construction industry's procurement processes.Responsibilities of the Purchasing Assistant
- Material Sourcing: Collaborate with the procurement team to identify reliable suppliers and vendors for construction materials, equipment, and services, ensuring they meet quality and cost standards.
- Vendor Management: Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and negotiate favourable terms, prices, and delivery schedules. Evaluate vendors' performance to ensure timely deliveries and quality products/services.
- Purchase Order Processing: Create and process purchase orders accurately and promptly, considering project requirements, budget constraints, and delivery timelines.
- Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels by monitoring stock levels, conducting regular inventory checks, and coordinating with relevant teams to prevent stockouts or overstocking.
- Cost Analysis: Analyse price proposals, financial reports, and other data to identify costsaving opportunities without compromising quality and project timelines.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive purchasing records, track purchase orders, and generate periodic reports on procurement activities, vendor performance, and cost analysis.
- Compliance and Ethics: Ensure adherence to company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards while dealing with suppliers and purchasing processes.
- Collaborative Support: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand their material requirements and provide timely support to meet project objectives.
- Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and best practices in construction/civil engineering procurement to make informed purchasing decisions.
Requirements of the Purchasing Assistant
- Proven experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role.
- Proficient in using procurement software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed purchasing decisions.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks in a fastpaced environment.
- Strong negotiation and relationshipbuilding skills.
- Knowledge of relevant procurement regulations and best practices is a plus.
Salary:
£22,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
