The starting salary for this role is £25,784.58 per annum (pro-rated from £29,291 full time equivalent), based on working 36-hours per week, 39 weeks per year. This is a 2-year fixed term/secondment opportunity ending on the 31st July 2025.**

About the Role


Active Surrey is looking for an
Active Schools Officer (part of the national School Games Organiser network) to join the dynamic and enthusiastic Active Surrey team who provides advice, support, and services to all schools in Surrey.

You will help enrich young people's lives through the Surrey School Games programme.

Promoting the benefits of PE, school sport and physical activity to improve behaviour, attendance, and attainment in schools whilst contributing to tackling inactivity and health inequality in Surrey.

This is an extremely exciting time to join the Active Surrey team. We are now into our journey of Surrey's 10-year physical activity strategy, Movement for Change.

You will support delivering the aims of the strategy with a particular focus on an active lifestyle to support young people's wellbeing and promoting the understanding of this from an early age.


Reporting to the Active Schools Manager, you will be in a team of four ASO's who form part of the thriving Education and Events team and will work closely with local and national partners including School Sports Associations, community clubs, boroughs and districts, Youth Sport Trust and the Active Partnerships network.


In this job, you will be:

  • Supporting 4 primary and 1 secondary school sports association in the Waverley & Mole Valley areas to deliver and support events and competitions,
  • Be part of an event delivery team responsible for young leaders and teacher training and coordinate events and activities as part of the Surrey School Games,
  • Connect with partners to advocate the role that PE, school sport and physical activity can play to help support healthy lifestyles of young people.

You will have:


  • An understanding of the schools/education system and the role that PE, school sport and physical activity can play in improving lives of young people,
  • Experience of delivering training and events,
  • Effective communication and relationship management skills,
  • A keenness to draw out learnings and share them with partners,
  • A sound knowledge of best practice in Health and Safety / Safeguarding.
