Student engagement and support coordinator (Leeds)
API is immediately seeking a
student engagement and support coordinator to work alongside our London team in managing our student study abroad programmes in
Leeds.
part-time.
This is a
work-from-home role however the
majority of the time will be spent out and about with the students.
For the day trips and overnight trips (3 per semester) it will be to destinations such as Whitby, Edinburgh, London, Liverpool and York.
It is essential that students do not miss classes to attend these activities so the majority of work will be on
weekends or evenings.
Reporting to the Country Manager, the student engagement and support coordinator will assist with the planning, pricing, budgeting and organisation of API's cultural events and student orientation in Leeds.
This will include, but is not limited to, physically leading the events; arranging student housing; design and delivery of on site orientations; researching and developing itineraries, pricing of transportation, hotels, meals and activities, identifying and booking guest lecturers and classroom space and other such requests; organising and attending cultural activities, excursions and events for students and acting as a cultural coach to assist students in their cultural adaptation.
The student engagement and support coordinator will also be responsible for supporting students throughout their time in Leeds, and managing student, parent, university and employer expectations while working to ensure high levels of customer service are maintained (e.g., by helping students navigate academic challenges, and connecting them with support resources in Leeds).
Requirements:
- Live in Leeds (or surroundings)
- A genuine interest and knowledge of British history and culture
- Sensitivity to student needs and cultural differences
- Excellent written and spoken communication, time management and organisational skills
- Ability to multitask and work to strict deadlines
- Ability to work independently and on own initiative and collaboratively as part of an international team
- A positive, cando attitude
- Flexibility and willingness to assist across other areas and programmes when required
- Working knowledge of Google workspace, Google sheets and Microsoft packages
Preferable
- Experience in the tourism sector
- Event planning and event management experience
- Experience in similar role
- Experience working to strict deadlines
- Experience of living or working abroad
- Professional or academic experience with international students

- The above schedule will average out at around 10 hours per week.
